Black Bean Birthday Brownies

It’s my birthday! And to celebrate I’m sharing with you my super chocolatey, brownies with a super secret ingredient: BLACK BEANS. Can you believe it? You just have to try this recipe to see how these taste just like real brownies. You’re gonna love them.

Ingredients

1 15-oz can, drained and rinsed black beans
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 cup oats
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup pure maple syrup or agave
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup coconut or vegetable oil
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips, plus more to garnish

Preheat oven to 350 F. Put black beans in a food processor. In a bowl, mix the ingredients sans chocolate chips, add the processed black beans in the bowl. Mix well. Add the chocolate chips and pour in a greased 8×8 pan. Add chocolate chips over the top.

Cook the black bean brownies 15-18 minutes, then let cool before cutting. Makes 9-12 brownies.
